How to add video to your Ebay auctions

Posted in Ebay

A picture is worth a thousand words

But a video is priceless. Ebay is a great place to sell your used items. One of the problems every buyer has is determining if the product works or has any defects. As a buyer, I am willing to bid higher on an item if the seller has written “Guaranteed not to be DOA”; even though an item will work the same no matter what the seller types in the description. Buyers tend to lower their guard about an item and feel warm inside when they are assured that they won’t have problems with the item.

Videos are a great way to increase your bids on your items. I recently sold an on Ebay with HD videos embedded in the description. It went $150 above what I was expecting to get for it. I’m sure it’s not 100% because of the video but they definitely helped.

Follow these easy instructions on how to add videos to your description on your Ebay auctions.

  1. Upload your video to Youtube. If you have a HD video even better.
  2. When the video has been processed by Youtube. Open the video and copy the video id. The video id is located at the address bar right after ?v=. For example the video id for my video is Ephp09I41yU.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ephp09I41yU
  3. Next go to Ebay and sell an item like you normally would.
  4. When you get to the description part copy and  click on the HTML tab.
  5. Copy and paste the code below where you want the video to be.

    <object height=”450″ width=”750″>
      <param value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/Ephp09I41yU&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&ap=%2526fmt=22“>
    <param value=”true”>
    <param value=”always”>
    <embed allowfullscreen=”true” allowscriptaccess=”always” height=”450″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/Ephp09I41yU&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&ap=%2526fmt=22” width=”750″>
     </embed>
     </object>

  6. There are two locations with the video id. Replace both Ephp09I41yU with your own video id.
  7. This code will load HD videos so if your video isn’t HD then remove both “&ap=%2526fmt=22″ from the code.
  8. Then you can switch to Standard tab and finish writing your description.

You won’t actually see the videos until you start the auction. Thanks pretty much it.
